By choosing a pluralistic service you are opting to create a service that is not as strict in its requirements and allows you to add personal meaning in more places. Pluralistic services still include all of the basics that you need to create a service, but some of the prayers may differ from those in a more traditional service. For instance, the pluralistic service option includes the names of the Matriarchs as well as the Patriarchs in the Amidah. (For more information on the Amidah, click here). The Pluralistic service on Build a Prayer may be different from other pluralistic services you have experienced previously. The differences among services in Judaism speak to the richness of variety in our traditions. We invite you to explore this site and other resources, like prayer books, to continue your education around Shabbat.
